The Sheds

65 Avon Street, Bristol

“The Sheds” at 65 Avon Street, Bristol, is the location of the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC) Research Hub. The building, formerly the headquarters of the Bristol Gas Company, now houses the Bristol Digital Futures Institute and other research facilities. The Bristol Digital Futures Institute (BDFI) is a University of Bristol research institute focused on creating a better digital future through collaboration between academics, external partners from tech, government, and community organizations, and world-leading research facilities. It works on a variety of projects to understand the impact of technology, develop new digital tools, and address societal challenges.

The project was awarded £2.5m by the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF) as one of nine research centres in the country to test and apply Net Zero applications to the infrastructure and operations. As part of the building renovation, RIDI supplied our LINIA continuous bus bar lighting system with highly efficient LED luminaire modules suitable for use in the offices and research areas. In addition we supplied downlights for the circulation areas mounted on LINIA trunking as a cost effective and simple to install solution.
