PORSCHE MUSEUM

Stuttgart’s Porsche Museum is a showcase of 80 years of Porsche design. The growing collection of historic vehicles was required to be set within a striking building that would express the company’s self-confident stance and high standards – all in architectural terms.

The museum facility was an incredibly bold corporate building design and was designed to expand an aged facility that stood since the 1970’s. The interior design was equally bold, with the interior designers creating a dramatic ceiling and skylight structure in the main foyer. A web of interconnecting lines of light was designed to follow the intricate structure and especially bring emphasis to these skylights at night.

The lighting designers, who wanted light to express this passion and dynamism of the building, chose the Spectral M-Series lighting system (formerly produced by Selux Interior) as the ideal product for this application. The system needed to be precise, reliable and be truly homogenous. The market leading M-SERIES was considered to be the right product for such a prestigious project. It was also deemed essential to work with a lighting manufacturer who could reliably work on such a bespoke design – as virtually every element was unique and required detailed coordination.

The exact product used was the trimless M60. This not only offered limitless configurations, but also offered the correct proportions for the structure. The end result was truly spectacular and has stood the test of time, still looking fresh and modern today. Reliability has also proven to be as expected which is testament to the engineering of the system.
